A Republican’s View On Raising Minimum Wage By: Austin Marshall Pieprzyk Mohammed Aqib Javed Brendan Michael Riggs Brian Clark

Pros of Raising Minimum Wage Some say that raising minimum wage will put over a million people out of poverty. This isn’t true, however, because with an increase in minimum wage many people will actually lose their job. According to an article by Chad Halvorson on www.wheniwork.com, a raise in minimum wage would stimulate the economy. How can the economy be stimulated if many people will lose their job?

Cons of Raising Minimum Wage Again, if the minimum wage is increased, there will be people who lose their job. Business owners like profit, and they don’t like the idea of losing profit. If business owners are forced to pay their employees more, then they will hire less employees.

There will also be competition for jobs There will also be competition for jobs. With less employees working for a business, there will be less positions available for hire. This will cause younger, less skilled workers to be hired. The prices will also increase. Again, business owners like to maintain a profit. They will increase their prices so as not to affect their personal income.
