Famous Crimes & Criminals

Due Date: Wednesday, 9-20-17 Major Grade—Project (6 Tickets) You will work on this during class the following dates: Thursday, 9-14 Monday, 9-18. **Possibly on Friday, 9-15 (if time permits)—we will go over survey stuff Tuesday, 9-19 Additional work as needed outside of class Thoroughly research the crime or criminal you selected in class yesterday Prepare a presentation 5-7 minutes on the crime/criminal you chose using PowerPoint/Sway/Prezi. 5-8 slides Must include pictures/visuals. Notes: snapshots/bullets of the information that covers Who, What, Where, When and Why

Research & Presentation Background of the crime Was it solved? Why or why not? Was there a trial? What was the verdict? Identify at least three key pieces of evidence and explain their value Unsolved/cold case: what possible theory could you develop? Solved/trial verdict: explain how that evidence affected the outcome of the case Do you agree or disagree with possible theories/outcome of trial Why or why not, using solid research…not Wikipedia! Think about it from a difference perspective: provide a possible and plausible alternate theory of the crime that you do not agree with and your reasons for discarding it. Not plausible: aliens came down from outer space and killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Mark Fuhrman is the alien leader sent to create chaos. You must support your alternate theory of the crime with solid research and evidence.

Research & Presentation Cont’d What impact does this case have on society? Not just “lots of people talk about it” but… How has it affected or changed the American view of criminal justice/criminal law? If it remains unsolved, what evidence could lead them to “cracking the case?” Why are people still talking about it? What makes this case so interesting? Cite at least three (3) credible sources…again, not Wikipedia. Can be news outlets, interviews, articles, books, etc. We will start presentations on Wednesday, 9-20…you will be selected at random (I will draw roster numbers.)
