The Challenges of developing a patient survey Neuro Oncology CNS Southmead Hospital November 15, 2017
“Patient experience survey is important as this provides the opportunity to improve patient care, enhance strategic- decision making, meet patient expectations, effectively manage and healthcare performance and document benchmarks for health care organizations.” - LaVela and Gallan ( 2014)
On going issues: Patient survey too long Patient response low When is the right time to send the patient feedback ? What areas of patient pathway should be covered? Patient Group – patients may have cognitive problems Is there anything else ?
Question remains… How do we identify the right questions? How often do we send them out? Do we send out reminders for non responders within a time frame? By what means – paper or online? By what means? – paper or online? Or both to accommodate patients needs What do we do with the results? Are they actionable? Are they comparable ?
