ARL PD Bank, Concept to Phase II ARL sponsored the development of a system to establish a national bank of job descriptions and help institutions manage position descriptions (PDs). It was developed by a UF team, with broad input from other institutions, and will be hosted in perpetuity by UF Libraries. This is an ongoing resource – not simply a one time effort to collect documents. The ARL PD Bank will enhance the management of these documents and improve their usefulness. The use of the system, will result in an industry level collection of job descriptions. Effective searchability of the collection informs us about our industry and benefits libraries. Institution level value is provided by improved document findability, access, and archiving which enhances their use and maintenance. The adoption of the system by institutions to manage their PDs will result in the maintenance of the data and materials over time. We are now in Phase II

Functionality Functionality Modeled with thinking on the IR@UF and dLOC: what does access as a community mean and do. This is a picture from the ferry for Puerto Rico to Vieques, which connects people to the main island. The ARL PD Bank connects our community of practice and enables new types of research and new ways to think with positions Ability to upload other, institution-level files Archives and access to previous versions of documents for a position System will track submission and modification dates, and user information Document forwarding option Support for the establishment of review schedules Ability to differentiate between vacant and filled positions https://flic.kr/p/8R5CeK

The System Now, much fuller tracking, and job ads Enables data mining, analysis, planning on positions Enables field change, which I expected, but I didn’t expect how much I think with it, and how it changes conversations that are possible, for ways to imagine and think creatively, with grounding in data, on our work. There will be a presentation at the library assessment conference, using Gephi (DH network relation tool) on the relationship of different metadata fields. https://flic.kr/p/anUbt7
