Title of Your Paper Your first and last name Instructions: Leave everything in Black Delete everything in Blue Change everything in Red Add a background, and you’re done!

Your paper itself should be 1000-1200 words. 概要 日本語での概要(約200字) 最後に書きますよ! Your paper itself should be 1000-1200 words. Don’t do anything— It’s not December YET!

1. Introduction Please remember the following rules! General introduction to your topic. WHAT will be the research question of your paper? HOW will you approach or research that question? HOW will your paper be organized? Please remember the following rules! 1. Avoid “I” (and especially “I think”) when writing. 2. Avoid but, and, because or so at the beginning of a sentence. (Use However, Also, That’s because or Therefore, instead).

2. Previous studies This is where you will explain MOST of your references. You will also practice QUOTES. Direct quote example: Honna (2010) said “…for Japanese, English is not an American language or a British language.” (p. 45). Indirect quote: Honna (2010, p. 45) believes that English is not an American or British language for Japanese people. Position summary: Honna (2010) believes English is a Japanese language.

3. SECTION 3 Provide a brief explanation of your section 3

4. SECTION 4 Provide a brief explanation of your section 4

5. (SECTION 5, 6…) You can continue with further sections: Provide a brief explanation of your section 5, 6 (if you have them)

6. Conclusion This is the END of your paper! Review your research…what did you do? Review your limitations…what could have been done better or more? Review your results…what did you find? Place results in context…why are your results interesting or important? Future applications…what can you do next? YOU CAN LEAVE THIS BLANK—YOU HAVE NO CONCLUSIONS YET!

7. Bibliography Here you will write your 参考文献. Look at these examples: Honna, N. (2010) That restaurant is delicious. [Japan] Asian Englishes, 13(2), 44-45. Tomei, J. (2004) Personal Corpus Learning : A beginning. KGU journal of language and literature 10(2)/11(1), 103-122. Yoneoka, J. (2000) Englishes of the World. Sanshusho Publishing. For Japanese books and articles, TRANSLATE the titles: Omiya, T. (2007) Nihonjin Eigo ni okeru Teikanshi no Tokucho to Anteika ni tuite (On possible stabilization of the definite article in Japanese English  [in Japanese]) Asian English Studies 9, 7-24.  FOR WIKIPEDIA, use their original format (sidebartoolboxcite this pageAPA style) Wasei-eigo. (2011, April 30). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 05:14, May 10, 2011, from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wasei-eigo&oldid=426679676
