guided by the review of eResearch infrastructure (Tom Cochrane, 2014); the 2016 National Research Infrastructure Roadmap; the eResearch Framework (Rhys Francis, 2016); Future Design Advice and Transition Plan Advice (Rob Cook, 2017); the Research Infrastructure Investment Plan; and the existing infrastructure investments and strategies of ANDS, Nectar and RDS.

Did they have consistent messages?

promote national coherence

deliver an integrated data-intensive infrastructure

leverage & support NCRIS

create a cohesive, seamless experience for researchers through a fully integrated system

so.. what is the ARDC? a transformational investment with an emphasis on innovation and acceleration and a focus on national and sustainable solutions

to do what? deliver a world-leading data advantage, accelerate innovation, improve collaboration for borderless research, facilitate translation of research into outputs for a better world through partnerships

how? We are transforming research impact through data, tools, and people We’re all in this together We catalyse and complement We are committed to reliable, sustainable, and long term outcomes We work on national scale opportunities It’s not just about the technology

with whom? NCRIS infrastructure providers Institutions e-Infrastructure providers (DDERP) Peak bodies and government …

What does that mean?

It’s not business as usual, it’s an opportunity to make a profound shift While we care for existing services and resources, we’re going to look at: what we should do more of, what we should do less of, what new things we should do, and what old things we should stop doing and how we should do all of those things Learning from the past, building for the future

What’s next?

Consultation, consultation and consultation Keeping the day-to-day business running Forming the new enterprise strategy Developing the capital plan Integrating the previous 3 organisations
