Senior Project Advisory #7 Check Out Process And Final Requirements for Project

Your Senior Project Advisors Mr. Schmidt A - F Mrs. O’Brien G - N Mrs. Dora O - Z

How far along is your Senior Project?

If you’ve missed a deadline or are behind on an extension, please get it to us ASAP.

You are three weeks away from checking out on Friday May 3rd

All necessary paperwork must be turned in prior to May 3rd so that it can be reviewed by your advisor and approved

I’ve turned in everything! What’s next? If all of your paperwork is turned in and approved, it is almost time to check out and start your Senior Project

When do I checkout? The checkout forms will be available on Monday April 29th in the Senior Lounge No checkout forms will be given out before this date – do not ask

The Checkout Process In order to check out and begin Project, we have to verify that the following are clear: Attendance Finances Discipline Record Grades Graduation Requirements

You may begin part of the process before that date – Start today! See the banker (Ms. Steenbergh) and clear any fines or fees you owe Get your library books returned and pay any library fines that you have Go to Room 110 and clear up any unexcused absences that you have

Attendance Sign-off for Senior Project * PLEASE NOTE* Unexcused absences MUST be excused NO LATER THAN MONDAY, APRIL 29 You may pick up attendance printouts during the week of April 22 - 26, 2019.

Checkout Process Pick up your signature sheet and your instruction sheet on April 29th in the Senior Lounge Here’s what it looks like:

Staff Signature Staff Location You must get your counselor’s signature AFTER your teachers have signed! Staff Name

Your assistant principal’s signature must be the very last one that you obtain! This sheet must be turned in BY YOU! IN PERSON!

Mr. Berger Mr. Tournoux Ms. DeMauro 314159 Student Mister E. Jewelry III A Mr. Berger CP Government D/Yes Mr. Tournoux AP Calculus AB D/No

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed DO NOT MISS A CLASS TO GET A STAFF SIGNTURE OR INTERRUPT A CLASS IN PROGRESS TO OBTAIN A SIGNATURE FROM A TEACHER

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed YOU MAY GET SIGNATURES DURING FREE PERIODS BEFORE SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL DURING YOUR CLASS FOR TEACHER SIGNATURES

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed It is the teacher’s decision as to when they sign your sheet Your teacher may have a particular day that they will sign the checkout sheet for everyone in the class

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Any forgery will result in the student being taking off project permanently

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Book Office Procedures All books except those specifically for AP or IB classes must be turned in prior to getting a signature from the book office. You must also have all of your book fines paid.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Attendance Get your unexcused absences taken care of ahead of time Do not show up during the week of April 29th with excuses

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you have fewer than 7 excused absences in all of your classes, any of the secretaries in Room 110 will sign your checkout sheet

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you have more than 7 excused absences in any of your classes, they will not sign off on your attendance You must see your Assistant Principal for the attendance signature

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Your Assistant Principal may ask you to provide documentation for any extended absences due to illness or for any extenuating circumstances

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you have ANY unexcused absences, you will not be able to get a signature

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Do not see your Senior Project advisors or teachers regarding absences, either excused or unexcused You must deal directly with the attendance office or your assistant principal for your absences

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed In order to keep things from getting overcrowded in Room 110, the secretaries have asked that you observe the following schedule

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed A – F Schmidt  Tuesday April 30th G – N O’Brien  Wednesday May 1st O – Z Dora  Thursday May 2nd

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed GRADES AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed You must have all of your teachers sign the sheet before you go to your counselor to obtain their signature so that your counselor can verify that you have met the requirements for each class you need to graduate

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Teacher signatures go on the reverse side of the Checkout sheet If you have an A, B or C in a class, you should be cleared to go on Project without an issue

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you have a D or an F, there are several things that could happen when you ask your teacher for his or her signature:

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed D/Yes – If your teacher wants you to go on Project and has no more requirements for you to fulfill, he or she signs “D/Yes” and you have their consent to go on Senior Project

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed D/No – If your teacher wants you to stay in class and continue to attend school (and not go on Project), he or she signs “D/No” and you do not have their consent to go on Senior Project

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed You will not be checked out and permitted to go on Project if you get one of these on your signature sheet

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed CO – There is a condition or conditions that you must fulfill with your teacher in order for you to be allowed to go on Project.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed Your teacher will determine these conditions and will write them on a separate piece of paper that will be attached to the signature sheet.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you fail to meet the conditions, you will be taken off Senior Project, required to return to school to attend classes, and take all applicable final exams.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you are getting a D in a class, we suggest that you approach the teacher and speak with them regarding your participation in Senior Project as soon as possible.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed F – You are getting an F in a class and are not permitted to go on Project.

Getting the Checkout Sheet Signed If you get an F or D/No on your checkout sheet, you must continue to attend all of your classes and take all of the required final exams for your classes.

Checking Out The completely signed form must be turned in to your advisor in person on May 3rd from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on the front lawn, weather permitting. In the event of rain, check out will be held in the Senior Lounge

Checking Out Your advisor will verify that you have all of your signatures on your check out sheet and all paperwork for Project turned in and approved. Then you will hear the words that each student wants to hear:

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW ON SENIOR PROJECT!

What comes after that? Beginning on May 6th, your advisor or his or her student assistant will begin calling every Project sponsor and asking to verify that you are attending and that there are no immediate issues with your Project
