SUBJECT PRONOUNS PLURAL SINGULAR 1st PERSON: WE=NOUS 1st PERSON: I=JE IN FRENCH, THE SUBJECT PRONOUNS ARE JUST LIKE ENGLISH PLURAL 1st PERSON: WE=NOUS 2nd PERSON: YOU(all)=VOUS 3rd PERSON: THEY=ILS or ELLES SINGULAR 1st PERSON: I=JE 2nd PERSON: YOU=TU 3rd PERSON: HE/SHE/IT/ONE=IL, ELLE,ON.

CHANGING NAMES/NOUNS TO PRONOUNS IN FRENCH When you have names or nouns as the subject of a sentence & you want to change it to a pronoun, you must look at the names, see if they’re masculine/feminine or plural and then choose the correct pronoun!

FOR EXAMPLE: MARC aime la pizza. Mark is one guy, so you choose HE or IL. Il aime la pizza. MARC & PAUL aiment la pizza. 2 guys, choose THEY or ILS. Ils aiment la pizza. MARC, PAUL & MARIE. 2 guys/1 girl-still choose THEY & ILS. MARIE & SOPHIE. 2 girls-Choose ELLES

MORE PRONOUNS: What if it said MARC & MOI? Mark and I? You would choose WE=NOUS! And if it said: MARC & TOI? Mark and you? Or PAUL & VOUS? Paul and you? You’re speaking to more than one YOU now, so you choose YOU ALL or VOUS!
