Welcome to Mr. Burger’s ESOL Reading Class

About Me I have been teaching for 9 years 5 of which have been in an ESOL setting I have been at Smitha MS for 5 years I have high expectations for my students and enjoy seeing my students learning English skills My goals: Students to become better with English Raise their Lexile Pass the ACCESS test.

The Year In A Nutshell 6th Grade Stories of Change The Power to Change Changing Perspectives The Final Act 7th Grade The Choices We Make What Influences My Choices? Choice & Consequences How We Choose to Act 8th Grade The Challenge of Heroism The Challenge of Utopia Challenge to Make a Difference The Challenge of Comedy

How to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader Your child’s Lexile level determines whether they are “promoted” to the next grade level. Have them read 30 minutes – 1 hour every night In English or first language Anything that interests them Read in front of them too Children read more if their parents do as well Have them write about what they have read in a short journal This will improve reading and writing by giving them a task

Contact Info My blog: mrburgerreading.weebly.com E-mail: terence.burger@cobbk12.org Join Remind to get information about announcements, homework, etc.

Questions??? Do you have any questions??? Possible good questions: How can my child exit out of ESOL? How can I view my child’s grades? How can I view my child’s behavior?
