Democracy System of Government run by the people, for the people Citizens are involved in the running of society by electing people who will represent them in government Democracy

Democratic Values The beliefs and ideals that are held by our society as a democracy

Westminster system Australia’s system of government is based on Westminster system Westminster system is a form of parliamentary government, originating in the UK

Justice Fairness or payback?? When people break the law in Australia and are convicted by the courts it is said they have been ‘brought to justice’ Through key principles and procedures (such as right to a fair trial), the legal system encourages the delivery of justice to all citizens Justice

Participation The way good citizens contribute to or take part in society Participate in many ways: voting in election or referendum, serving on a jury or paying taxes
