Why PE? Why is PE on our National Curriculum? What does a physically educated child / successful learner in PE look like / sound like?

Physical Education Programme of Study Aims: The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils: Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities Are physically active for sustained periods of time Engage in competitive sports and activities Lead healthy, active lives.

High Quality Physical Education What would we hope / expect to see if we observed our colleagues / coaches delivering curriculum PE?

What are we looking for in a PE lesson? Structure – warm up, skill, conditioned challenge, review Pupils know outcomes and objectives Active lesson Pupils are engaged in the lesson Differentiation. Lower ability pupils are included, higher ability pupils are stretched and challenged FUN! Fostering a love of being active
