Nursery Summer 2-Week 2 Pirates Pirates Love Underpants Maths This week we will continue with number recognition, counting objects and adding two sets of pirate treasure together. Personal, Social, Emotional Development SEAL – We start a new topic ‘ Changes ‘ where the children will think about some of the changes that happen in nursery and for the older ones the change that will happen when they go into Reception. This week the children will review their personal goals they made earlier on in the year and set new ones. Speaking & Listening In their key groups the children will be looking at a picture. They will talk about what they see and answer questions. Nursery Summer 2-Week 2 Pirates Pirates Love Underpants Phonics In phonics some children will be playing lots of listening games and the older children will be learning all about the letters ‘r & h’, what sounds they make and objects that begin with that sound. Communication & Language Literacy The children will listen to lots of Pirate stories. This week we will be reading a story called ‘Pirates love Underpants’. We will be looking at where the story is taking place, the main characters and make suggestions of how the story might end. The children will also be talking about the rules pirates would have on their ships . They will be discussing why it is important to have rules. Expressive Arts and Design The role play area inside and out will be a Pirate Ship and Island. The children will use what they have learnt to take on roles and make up stories. At the creative table The children will be making their own telescope. Physical Development In PE we will be spending our time practicing for sports day and practicing our play for our end of year celebrations. Mrs C Mayne

11th June 2018 Dear Parents, Please find below a list of dates of events that nursery will be taking part in. Tuesday 12th June – Reception Meeting for Nursery Parents 6pm Wednesday 13th June – 1.30pm – Whole school photograph. If you would like your child to be on the photograph but they don’t attend that session then you can bring them in at 1.15 and then take them home after the photograph . Please let a member of nursery staff know if you would like to do this. W/B 18th June – Parents Activity Sessions 9-10am & 12.30-1.30pm. Come along and join us in our activities in nursery, look through your child’s learning Journey and speak to staff. Please choose a session and sign your name. Friday 22nd June – Transition morning into Reception Class. Friday 29th June – Transition morning into Reception Class Friday 6th July – Transition into Reception Class and parents stop for lunch. If you haven’t already done so please let Mrs Porter or Mrs Mayne know if you are stopping for lunch. Friday 6th July – Summer Fete 3.30pm Tuesday 10th July – Nursery Celebration – Parents are invited to join us for our nursery celebration at 10am in the school hall. The children will be performing a play called ‘Hats Off’. Wednesday 18th July – Sports Day and Picnic 11am – 1.30pm Thursday 19th July – End of Year Service at Church 9am-11am. Friday 20th July – Break up for Summer Holidays.
