Year 11 GCSE Exam Information Evening Year 11 GCSE PHYSICAL EDUCATION teachers MR C SIMMONDS

Theory (2 x written examinations) = 60% Course Summary Theory (2 x written examinations) = 60% Component 1 – Fitness & Body Systems (1 hour & 45 minutes) ● Topic 1: Applied anatomy and physiology ● Topic 2: Movement analysis ● Topic 3: Physical training ● Topic 4: Use of data Component 1 – Health & Performance (1 hour & 15 minutes) ● Topic 1: Health, fitness & well-being ● Topic 2: Sport Psychology ● Topic 3: Socio-cultural influences

Course Summary Practical (performance & coursework) = 40% Component 3 – Practical Performance = 30% 3 practical performances 1 x individual, 1 x team, 1 x either Component 4 – Personal Exercise Programme (PEP) = 10% All internally assessed and externally moderated by examiner

Practical 40% Practical moderation dates - Thursday 25th April 2019 (External Moderation) Each student will be moderated in their 3 sports during the Spring term. A selection of sports will be externally assessed by the visiting moderator on Thursday 25th April. PEP – 1st draft deadline was 14 Dec. PEP – 2nd draft deadline is Fri 8 March FINAL deadline for corrections & amendments is Mon 18 March

Practical Grading and Expectations Students must bring their full, correct PE kit during these days Students must behave appropriately throughout Students must perform to the best of their ability - grades can go down Failure to attend any one of their sports= 0 marks
