Use of Dynamic Traffic Assignment in FSUTMS in Support of Transportation Planning in Florida MTF DTA SUBCOMMITTE MEETING July 28, 2011

Tasks Review of literature DTA committee and modeling community surveys Requirement workshop Requirement production Testing based on requirements Development and calibration support Enhancement and Integration of DTA tools Testing of enhancements

Requirement Categories General hardware and software requirements Shortest path and path choice modeling Traffic flow modeling (TFM) Network geometry Network demand Transit modeling Calibration support

Applicability of Requirements Long range plan (LPR) Short range plan (SPR) Corridor/impact studies (CS) Planning for Operations/ITS (PO) All

Purpose of Requirements In addition to setting requirements, the produced list will provide basis for testing/assessments Static vs. dynamic, dynamic tools Can be customized for different purposes/regions For both core tool and supporting tools May not be satisfied at the present time but form basis for improvements and for supporting tools Acceptable thresholds may not be possible but testing will demonstrate typical values

Status of Requirements Requirements updated based on comments A new expanded section regarding “Transit Modeling” has been added

Testing based on Requirements Comparison of how Cube Voyger, Cube Avenue, DynsuT, and Transim meet each requirement is being conducted
