First Eight Weeks Learning the organization. Dozens of get acquainted meetings Five of nine academic colleges. 50+ orientation meetings. Assessments and data analysis Strategic plan

Strengths Opportunities Excellent faculty and students. Strength of programs in science, technology, arts, and design. National University status. Strong Carnegie position. Culture of inclusion. Opportunities Increase student success. Improve diversity. Grow non-STEM majors. Expand doctoral programs. Increase sponsored programs funding and scholarship. Create world class facilities for instruction and research.

Needs Better balance in the academic portfolio. Closer linkage between department responsibilities and resources. Additional faculty and staff lines to support growth in student population. Greater hiring flexibility: opportunity, dual career, diversity. Near-term plans for research and instruction space. Facility renovations. Concerns Navigating the shift between teaching- and research-intensive focus. Losing undergraduate student focus. Growth without resources. Future of co-op.
