Calling All Chefs! Dear Families, This year’s OSOB theme, from Save Me a Seat, was all about diversity and acceptance. We would like to create a cookbook that represents the diverse community we have here at Munn, and what better way to experience that, than through food! We are looking for recipes from your family that are your favorites, have a cultural or historical significance to your family, or are a part of your family's traditions. On the following slides you will find a sample template and one for your family to fill out electronically and email to Mrs. Ellis by FRIDAY FEBRUARY 15th! We would love for you to share a picture of your family or the dish with a brief story of why this recipe is important. There is no right or wrong, it's all about your family! If you have any questions please feel free to email Mrs.Ellis at aellis@spencerportschools.org Once our cookbook is complete, we will be selling it for a donation (of your family's choice) towards the cost of our books for next year's OSOB! Thank you in advance for your help with our school-wide project! Sincerely, the OSOB Committee
Swedish Meatballs The Love Family Soften bread crumbs and onion soup mix in ½ cup of milk. After softened, combine this with all the rest of the dry ingredients, the meat, and the eggs. Form and shape into meatballs. Brown on all sides in a small amount of oil. Drain and pat off excess oil. Combine consommé and whipping cream and simmer meatballs in this for about 1 hour. Thicken the sauce with a small amount or cornstarch and water. Serve over hot rice or noodles. 1 ½ lbs ground beef 1 egg 1 cup milk 1 ½ slices bread, finely crumbled 1 pkg. dried Lipton Onion Soup 1 ½ tsp. sugar ½ tsp. paprika 1 tsp. dry mustard ¼ tsp. pepper ¼ tsp. garlic powder 3 cans beef consommé 2 ½ pints heavy whipping cream This is one of my family’s favorite recipes! Whenever my brother, sister, or I would have a birthday we would always ask for this meal or meatloaf! While this recipe did not come from my family’s heritage, it is a classic Pennsylvania Dutch meal. I am originally for PA, so needless to day we always serve this meal over Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Noodles! MMMMM
