Third Grade News March Newsletter Other News Please remember to sign your child’s behavior sheet/ reading log each night. Students should be reading at least 30 minutes each night! Practice multiplication and division facts! Reading: Students are working on a Biography research project. They are researching someone famous, of their choice. The next unit is Social Issues Book Clubs. Social issues refer to issues that affect the people in our world, not just one character or a particular set of people. Social issues can be seen in fiction and nonfiction genres• Characters in stories face similar issues that real people encounter. Math: Students just completed a unit on area and perimeter. Our next unit is fractions. Students will identify fractions on a number line, as well as, compare fractions. Writing: Students will complete the Poetry Unit. The next unit in writing will be Fairy Tales. Students will create their own Fairy Tale with a happy ending. They will use their prior knowledge of the characteristics of fairy tales to create an original fairytale. Social Studies/Science: Students will be learning about resources. They will evaluate the relationship between supply and demand and identify how supply and demand affects consumers and entrepreneurs in a market economy. Dates to Remember 8- All Pro Dad’s Breakfast 12- Teacher Workday-No school for students 19- 2nd/3rd grade music performance 22- Last day to turn in fundraiser money 28- End of 3rd Quarter 29- Teacher Workday-No school for students
