Whole School Forum Monday 28th November 2016 Welcome – Whole School Forum links to assemblies from NSPCC last week. We want to get your views about what we do well at school to keep children safe and if there are any things we can do better. Who remembers what a whole school forum is? We have had some before about playground development and bullying…. Next slide gives definition.

What is a Forum? Definition: A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged. A quick recap of the purpose of our whole school forums – they should know this by now!!! Particular issue this time is keeping safe. Why do we have forums? Again they should know….ask the children for reasons. Next slide gives reasons to share.

The views of children are very important! Why have a Forum? “ Every voice is heard.” The views of children are very important! Children are the most important people in our school. Adults come to work because of you and we all have a job to make sure that Ripple is as good as it can be! So NSPCC came in last week and did some assemblies – and some follow up sessions in some year groups… who remembers the key theme they shared?

NSPCC NSPCC talked with you about worries…..next slide

A worry shared is a worry halved They talked about sharing worries with trusted adults…how many can you remember? Tell the person next to you.

Sharing helps……they mentioned an organisation who can help…anyone remember the name?

Do children remember the actions to help them remember the phone number? Child Line can be contacted FREE from mobiles, phone boxes etc

To build on this work, we want to know what you think about how we keep you safe and help you with worries in our school. Are there things we do well – if yes – record them on this sheet…. Go through sections to explain And if there are things we could do better….record them on this sheet (see next slide)

Go through sheet to explain task

What next? Class teachers will: Set a time for your class to carry out the task. School councillors will: Lead discussions in class. Fill in the two sheets, using your ideas. Feedback all of your thoughts and ideas at the next School Council meeting on 7th December.

Mrs Ziane, Graham and Mel Good Luck! We can’t wait to hear all of your feedback. Thank you! Mrs Ziane, Graham and Mel
