I. Concepts: A category of objects, events, or ideas that have common properties To be able to understand the concept, one must have knowledge of the properties that are contained within that concept.

Types of Concepts: Formal Concept: A concept that can be clearly defined by a set of rules or properties Natural Concept: A concept that has no fixed set of defining features but has a set of characteristic features Prototype: A number of natural concepts that have all or most of its characteristic features Proposition: A mental representation of the relationship between concepts
