Reasons for Entering the War Italy joined into the war to try to gain territories for itself. It decided to join in with Britain and France because it was believed that this alliance would win the war. Great Britain offered Italy some islands and some north-african land to convince Italy to side with them.   (firstworldwar.com)

Short-Term Effects Italys population took a huge hit 600,000 Italian soldier deaths 250,000 crippled for life 900,000 wounded   Italy had no moneys left over after the war was over  The war cost more than the government had spent in the last fifty years Inflation was sky-high Unemployment was extremely high (eyewitnesshistory.com) (historylearningsite.co.uk)

Long-Term Effects Italy and its people had very little money, and people stopped comeing to America in massive numbers  People could not afford the trip Americans did not want more Italians entering so new laws restricted the entrance of Italians   Italy did not recieve all of the land promised by Great Britain While losing 600,000 troops, Italy looked weak after not receiving the promised land Italy was given four islands, but no German colonies or territories in Asia Minor, Albania, or Dalmatia (thecorner.org)

Relating to Global Studies Utopia and Terror The Facist party take over was achieved by false promises and violence    Rise of Mass Society Through manipulation of the large poor society, Facist Mussolini took power  Global Interrelatedness Italy gained territorial lands throughout Europe
