A Guide to AAR Spring Semester 2011 AAR Student Handbook A Guide to AAR Spring Semester 2011

Welcome to AAR! The first thing you should know is we’re happy to have you here! If you’ve enrolled in our Academy, you’re officially a part (an IMPORTANT part) of the AAR family. If you haven’t enrolled and are just checking us out, welcome anyway! We love that you’re taking the time to talk and get to know us and we hope you know we want you to be one of us.

What is AAR? AAR is essentially a fan-site for Lisi Harrison’s Alphas series. We mimic the classes, the vibe, and the main elements in the books. Which means that AAR is technically (and before anything else) a place for young talented girls (and boys?) to grow, explore, talk, hang, create, laugh, and compete with girls just like them.

What can you do at AAR? You can… Be whoever you want to be. Learn something new or hone something old. Talk to people who care about your opinions. Hang out with people who are interested in this too! Get a job. Talk to boys (kind of). Challenge yourself. See your ideas come to life. Be yourself.

Be who you want to be… The Alphas at AAR create characters and roleplay. You don’t need to have a reason to get out and start chatting… just pick any place and enjoy the Island view! Other Alphas are sure to jump in and get something going. Your characters don’t have to be anything like you; they just have to be like them.  Applications can be found in Shira’s Office.

Learn something new or hone something old… AAR’s classes are fun and challenge you to be creative. You can learn something by signing up for classes you have no idea about. OR, you can do something you love! There’s no rule saying you can’t sign up for classes you know you’re good at.

Talk to People who care about your opinions… AAR has weekly meetings in the Elizabeth I Lecture Hall for all Alphas to meet and talk about a certain topic. We WANT to know what you think… We WANT to debate with you… We WANT you to convince us… We CARE what you have to say. You should never be intimidated to share your thoughts at AAR. We love talking to you.

Hang out with people who are interested in this, too!... AAR separates you into Majors so you can identify with a group of people who like the same thing you do… But just in case you’re looking for someone different… We separate you into Houses… And there are fifteen different specialty courses… And the Island has plenty of events where you can meet people… So you’ll always be able to find someone you connect with!

Get a job… If you want to earn money, you can apply for a job at the I.C.E. Lounge. Vets of AAR get priority, but if don’t let that stop you from applying! Getting a job helps you increase your social skills and allows you to gain some independence. Besides, having a job is fun. Why wouldn’t you want one?!

Talk to boys… kind of… In the books, the Brazille Boys are Shira’s AH-dorable sons. At AAR, they’re… well… you. We haven’t had boys apply to the Island, yet, but if boys ever do, they are more than welcome to take on one of these characters. But for now, the Brazille Boys are there for your idle pleasure--- use them and abuse them, so long as you’re being fair to story-lines already created regarding who belongs to whom.

Challenge yourself… AAR always has competitions. We have House competitions, competitions between Majors, and competitions for the individual. The point of this is to prepare you for the real world… to teach you how to deal with being ahead, and learn how to get ahead. If you don’t push yourself to your full potential, how will you know what you can accomplish?

See your ideas come to life… We always take suggestions and credit them. If you have ideas for improving AAR, let us know! We’d love to expose your brilliance to the world wide web! Besides that, every day you spend at AAR is a day you’re building characters, demonstrating social awareness, and creating things--- these are all your original ideas and, Alphas, you are brilliant.

Be yourself… At AAR, you’re encouraged to be whoever you want to be, but we demand that you never lose sight of who you are. As much attention as we give your characters, we love to remind you that we care about you, too. YOU are a member of AAR. YOU are the mastermind behind your amazing Alpha character. YOU are the opinionated diva (or dude) who speaks with eloquence and charm. And we are glad to have YOU here.

Welcome to the Island Welcome to the Island, Alphas; we’re so glad you’ve made it. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, or remarks, feel free to message sommerset OR e-mail us at alphasroleplay@gmail.com.

End.
