Sit next to someone new

Today we’re going to focus on… Critical thinking Problem solving Thinking outside the box Anticipating problems

The Zombie Apocalypse has started… You have to get out of town ASAP You need to: Take one person with you Take two items from your where you live Decide where you’re going to go You need to explain each choice using rhetorical appeals

Example I will take my baseball bat and my black jacket I can use my baseball bat to defend myself and use it to break windows if I get cornered in a building My black jacket will keep me warm when it gets cold out and help camouflage me at night I’m going to take my best friend Because she’s the person I feel closest to so I want her to survive. And I’ve been to a shooting range with her so I know she can defend us I’m going to go to Alaska because there aren’t a lot of people there and the snow will freeze the zombies

In One paragraph, make an argument explaining… Where you will go, one person you will take with you, two objects you will bring along, and why Use strong reasoning to support each choice Persuade me why and how you’ll survive NOTE: You must know the person and own the object

Trade Papers and… Think about how effective the argument is for the person, place, and items chosen Why or why not is it convincing? Will they survive?

Get into groups of Four

As a group… Decide which person, place, and objects will help you survive the apocalypse Each group can only take one extra person, have two objects, and have one destination Persuade each other why your choices are the best The group with most convincing argument survives & survivors win bonus points
