By:Sydney Pollard Completed:11/28/14 Dry Ice By:Sydney Pollard Completed:11/28/14

Scientific Question What liquid will have the biggest impact on dry ice?

Background I chose this question because I have been interested recently about dry ice. The liquids I chose are common and can be bought at the store. I came up with the project idea myself.

Hypothesis If we test how dry ice reacts with lemon juice, water, and Sprite then, lemon juice will have the best reaction

Variables Independent-Type of liquid Dependent-How much dry ice I used Constant-What liquids I used

Procedure Fill water bottle with 500ml of liquid Put one gram of dry ice in the water bottle. Let sit until next day. Record data. Repeat process two times.

Data Lemon Juice Sprite Water 300 400 250 500 450 400 350 300 250 200 150 100

Conclusion What liquid has the bigger reaction to dry ice? In the experiment, I tested dry ice with lemon juice, sprite, and water. Water reacted the most to the dry ice. The data does not support my hypothesis because I predicted lemon juice would react the most with dry ice. I learned dry ice is really cold and you should probably never touch it. No problems occurred, but next time I would like to use Coca Cola.
