Magnifying glass Eye dropper Scissors Dissecting tray Forceps Dissecting pins Ruler Probe Scalpel
Coverslip Microscope Slide Petri Dish
Revolving nose piece High , Med, Low Stage clips
Microscope Usage Always carry with two hands Has one lens in the eyepiece Has three revolving objectives at varying magnifications To find total magnification, multiply the eyepiece (10x) by the objective lens
Microscope Usage Start by placing the slide in the center of the stage. To find an object, raise the stage and use the lowest objective and the course adjustment. When you find it, you can increase the objective and use the fine focus. If you keep the object in the middle of the field of view, you see it each time you increase objectives. Do not use the coarse focus on the 2nd and 3rd objectives, or the slide may break. When done, take off the slide, return the objective to the lowest one, lower the stage, and turn off microscope.
