Career Center Services 2007-2010

Students Served and Services Provided Between 2006-2010

Program Strengths The Career Center remains current with workforce trends giving us the ability to provide optimum and relevant services to ARC students. Staff work to develop and foster new relationships within the community that provide employment related opportunities to students. The Career Center offers ARC students on-campus resources to enhance their employability and career-related goals. This is accomplished through workshops, events, career fairs and one-on-one appointments with Student Personnel Assistants and a Career Counselor. Students can visit the Career Center to take career assessments that provide them with information directly related to their career interests and occupational options.

Program Challenges Given the current economic climate, employing students and graduates has become increasingly difficult. As the needs of ARC students change, the Career Center finds itself serving increasingly diverse populations (e.g., veterans, re-entry students and CalWORKs students). Staff work hard to stay informed on specific employability challenges and needs of these populations.

Planning Implications As ARC looks towards the 2020 Vision with an eye on student success and employment, the Career Center is committed to maintaining strong relationships with the campus community, specifically the CTE programs. In addition, the Career Center will continue to offer quality and relevant services to better prepare our students for their future career and employment success. This will be achieved through ongoing workshops, career related events, partnerships with the outside employment community, and the availability of highly trained staff to meet the changing needs of students and employers.
