Community Awareness New Owner Meet & Greet Visit with new owner of home in WUI areas within 60 days of property transfer Identify hazards & educate them on fire history & defensible space Promote Fuels reduction trailer program

Defensible Space Inspection Program Inspect WUI properties every 5 years 20% each year =400 inspections per year Voluntary compliance unless extreme hazard

Fuels Reduction Program Goal = To create large scale fuel breaks in high risk communities 10 person Type II crew for fuel reduction & fire suppression Crew actively participates in Nevada Wildfire Awareness Month Hand thinned 200 acres over 2 years Mechanically treated 70 acres Pile burning over 22 acres this year

Fuel Reduction Trailers/Dumpsters Simple & free way for property owners to eliminate flammable vegetation from property Program started in 2006. 156 tons collected the first year 2018= 333 tons of fuels removed In 12 years we have collected 3,800 tons of fuel and serviced 6,000 properties

Trailer & Dumpster Program

Reducing the Fuels With Sheep Program started in 2006 Over 700 sheep deployed in WUI areas Sheep graze over 2000 acres every spring Targets early season grass growth
