With the Axis forces out of North Africa, the Allies began planning an invasion of northern France.

June 6, 1944, was D-Day, the beginning of the Allied invasion June 6, 1944, was D-Day, the beginning of the Allied invasion. A region of northern France known as Normany, was chosen.

American and British soldiers waited in southern England to begin the attack.

A little more than a year later, Germany surrendered.
