Commission Regulation No 88/2011 Last year of application 7 questionnaires By 30 September 2013 Enrolments, entrants, personnel, foreign languages, enrolments at regional level By 30 November 2013 Graduates Education expenditure Quality reports to be sent by 31 January 2014 (separate item on the agenda) Eurostat Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 19-20 June 2014

Compliance monitoring A Commission Regulation is binding in all its elements (unless a derogation has been granted) Formal action to be taken in case of non-compliance A report on the application of the Regulation has been presented by Eurostat to the European Directors of Social Statistics in April 2014 (situation on 28/02/2014) Eurostat Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 19-20 June 2014

Countries are recommended: Timeliness Only 10 countries (out of 33) sent all the 7 questionnaires according to the legal deadlines 14 countries sent from 1 to 5 questionnaires within the month following the legal deadline 11 countries sent from 1 to 7 questionnaires more than one month after the legal deadline Questionnaires on expenditure and personnel seem to be the more problematic ones Countries are recommended: To respect the deadlines without jeopardising data quality To inform Eurostat in case of structural problem Eurostat Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 19-20 June 2014 4

Data quality (excluding timeliness) Globally the quality of the information has been assessed as good or acceptable (according to our data checks) Still recurrent problems in few countries (dealt with bilaterally by Eurostat) Countries are recommended: To estimate missing information (and to improve their estimates if necessary) To provide appropriate metadata so that end users are properly informed To anticipate the end of existing derogations 25-26 April 2013 Eurostat Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 25-26 April 2013 Eurostat Education and Training Statistics Working Group - Luxembourg, 19-20 June 2014 5
