WIM TV System CCD: The Content Creation Device is the software tool that lets creators package their videos for distribution in the format described above. WIM TV Server: It is the machine used by a service provider to implement a business model, with the capability to, e.g. Collect content made by creators using the CCD Post content on a web site Stream content via the CPD Obtain unique identifiers via a Content Identification Device (CID) Identify all devices used in the WIM TV system via a Device Identification Device (DID)

WIM TV System CPD: The Content Provider Device can stream video over a variety of delivery mechanisms, such as WWW (Web TV), Internet Protocol (IP) with some sort of guaranteed delivery (IPTV) and mobile (Mobile TV). EUD: End users can consume WIM TV video content using an End User Device. ECD: The Event Collection Device is a system, possibly managed by a third party, that collects events and provides statistical information about them.

The WIM TV trial at Beijing Olympics The "WIM TV Trial At Beijing Olympics" was initiated by DMP, and organized by Institute of Digital Media of Peking University and Beijing Jidong Film Corporation. This trial is built on the basis of the DMP interoperable DRM standard and its open source implementation Chillout, and aggregates several media streaming techniques with LASeR (Lightweight Application Scene Representation).

The WIM TV trial at Beijing Olympics First implementation of WIM TV: Its goal is to provide a publication and delivery platform of UGC videos produced by Beijing citizens, residents living in Beijing or students of selected universities. The published content: It can be anything for which the Creator holds rights (hence no Olympic Games content, in general). Therefore the recommended type of content can be described as discover Beijing during the Olympic Games, but outside of the Olympic Games.

Use CCD to create video content Functionality of CCD: It can package the creator information, license information and the video, and upload the dcf file to the trial platform. When user has logged on the CCD, he needs to add at least one video file first, and then add the video into a content item. The User should provide the metadata and the license of the video, and he can choose a LASeR template to present them. After that CCD will create a dcf file, and the user can upload it via the CPD.

Use CCD to create video content

Use EUD to watch WIM TV video First you can open the website of WIM TV, and choose the video you want to watch and download it. Then you should use EUD to open the file, and you will see the description about the video including the license information. After that click the Play button and you can enjoy the video now !

Use EUD to watch WIM TV video

The status of WIM TV trial The WIM TV website has been on line since 2008 Aug 8th. Now we have received nearly 100 videos created by users, and most of them have been published on the website.

The status of WIM TV trial The clicks of these video vary from 40 to 80. People can download these videos and watch them using EUD. The trial is progressing and we hope that more people will join it!

Join the WIM TV trial The entire WIM TV code base is available at: With this anybody can set up his own WIM TV server. Creators and end users can go to: to download and install the CCD and EUD, respectively.

Thank you!
