Southwest Border Food Protection and Emergency Preparedness Center New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service Large Animal Emergency Rescue Awareness Level When: April 9, 2019 Where: DeBaca County Fairgrounds 3933 Billy the Kid Dr., Ft. Sumner, NM Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm Register @ Department of Homeland Security https://www.preparingnewmexico.org/ by April 1, 2019 Emergencies involving large animals are exceptionally dangerous to both humans and animals involved. First responders are often unfamiliar with handling large animals and require specialized training in animal behavior, best handling practices and rescue equipment. Participants will get real world experience handling large animals. They will master the practical application of large animal rescue equipment such as slings, rescue harnesses, glides, and learn how to build simple enclosure facilities.
