The Boston Massacre March 5 1770 A crowd gathered around some British soldiers and began throwing snowballs and insults at them. Soldiers end up shooting into the crowd.

Crispus Attucks and 4 other colonists laid dead in the snow.

The Sons of Liberty called the shooting the Boston Massacre tool of anti-British propaganda in newspapers, pamphlets and posters! The people were outraged!

The redcoats were arrested for murder The redcoats were arrested for murder. John Adams (lawyer and cousin to Sam Adams) defended them in court. Adams was criticized! But he said he wanted to show that the colonies followed the law! He argued that the soldiers acted in self defense and the jury agreed.
