Students will be able to analyze and connect evidence from data within tables, graphs, illustrations, and passages with logical written explanations that defend and support their conclusions. Analyze and interpret data to determine similarities and differences in findings (MS.PS.1-2) Analyze data in 6-8 builds on K-5 and progresses to extending quantitative analysis to investigations distinguishes between correlation and causation and basic statistical techniques of data and error analysis. Summative Assessment Analysis What skills are necessary for the students to complete the summative assessment successfully? Identify locators within questions - target points, units - knowing where to look for information. Identify appropriate trends in tables and figures - recognize trends in numbers and data. Using math estimation instead of math calculation - improves time management. Using estimation and extrapolation on graphs and tables - improves graph/data table competency. Summative Assessment Analysis Continued What evidence will be used to measure attainment of the learning goal? Pre-assessment: 11th Grade ACT Science Test Passage with 20 Questions. SMART Goal During the 2018-2019 school year, data from “ACT pre-assessments” will be used to target specific students for immediate intervention to ensure that 90% of students will meet or exceed their individual target goal on the ACT post- assessment.”
SMART Goal Timeline: Prior to the start of the 2018-2019 SY: Assess previous year’s data and see where and what components can improve to lesson design and delivery. Throughout the 2018-2019 SY: Hold regular data team meetings to compare and analyze data from mini strategy lessons. Summary of Data: The percentage of students performing at level 1 makes up the largest amount of all students at Central High School. The next largest percentage of students performed at level 2, followed by level 3 and then 4, with the smallest percentage of students. The District and state levels follow the same pattern. The percentage of scores at level 3 and 4 are higher at Central High School than the scores for the entire district. The scores at level 1 are highest for the district and lowest for the state. Scores at performance level 4 are highest at the state level and lowest at the district level. Performance level 3 scores are highest at the state level and lowest at the district level. Scores at Performance level 2 are highest at the state level, lowest at Central High School. Further observations: The amount of students in performing at levels 2 and 3 is about the same as the amount at level 1. This leaves a small portion at the top levels. The amount of students in level one at Central High is less than the overall amount of students in all of Jayhawkville, setting Central High as performing higher than the average in the district. Compared to all students in the state, there is a higher percentage of students at the level 1 performance level.
