NZAAA Conference June 2016 Richard Donnelly Manager – Super Air

What’s driving change? Competition Consumers Environment Society Technology Society Conversations are being had around the world about The value of agriculture Food safety Water quality and scarcity Profit per hectare Greenhouse gasses   The emerging countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China and Africa are having more and more influence on our business – we have to be competitive on the world stage We’re ‘on’ and accessible 24/7 with the internet and new technologies transforming the way we go about our daily lives (and the way our farmers run their businesses) Our customer base is consolidating. Farms are getting bigger, and with size comes a higher level of in-house expertise and more buying power. There’s a shift in focus from traditional nutrient requirements of NPKS, to exploring the possibilities of new chemical and biological technologies. Legislative change is influencing our freedom to operate our business and our farmers’ freedom to farm. We also need social licence to operate from a community who wants to protect the environment and leave it in great shape for future generations, and who cares about where their food comes from and how it was produced.

The opportunity The population continues to grow and they all need feeding Consumers want safe ethically produced produce Technology will change the landscape and provide new opportunities The NZ brand is strong but needs to be cultured and grown How do we feed the richest consumers who are willing to pay a premium for real food What does all of this mean for YOUR BUSINESS in the next 10 years…? The opportunity is clear to me, the need for safe real food exists and will grow, we cant afford to feed the 40 million that we can, we need to feed 20% of the most affluent people in the world focus on the one meal a week that you want to impress – date night?

15-7-12.5-3 Innovating PGP programme continues launched Spreadsmart last autumn allows aerial variable rate fertiliser to be applied automatically a the plane fly's according to slope and aspect MitAgator, spatial planning tool to reduce sediment and P loss from hills and provide mitigation strategies N – Guru uses N soil test data to show where the best return for the nitrogen spend is

Safety Safety remains our number one focus Supporting safety industry wide with more safety targeted than general sponsorship contribution Contribution to “Down to the wire” campaign AIRCARE/Spreadmark code important with NZAAA administration
