For that reason, it is set off from the rest of the sentence with either a comma or an exclamation point.   When do you use an exclamation point with an interjection? You use it with interjections that express mild emotion, either before or after the interjection. Examples: Yes! I knew you could do it! You got front row seats! Great! Today we are going to learn what is meant by “subject and verb agreement.”   What do we mean by “subject and verb agreement”? The subject and verb must agree in number (singular or plural). A noun that is singular always takes a singular verb form. A noun that is plural always takes a plural verb form. Here’s what I think students stumble over. When we speak of a plural noun, we usually mean that you add an “s” to the end of it. But verbs are just the opposite. A singular verb ends in “s.” A cat sleeps during the day. The singular noun is cat. The singular verb is sleeps. Cats sleep during the day. The plural noun is cats. The plural verb is sleep.
