Session Objectives Consider any weaknesses in or challenges to CEZD sustainability Action steps for what can be done to face the challenges. Consider funding proposals for the workshop outcomes Outcomes – Answers to: Is your time committment to CEZD vulnerable? What should we seek funding for?

Session Outline Review – 10 minutes How does CEZD approach sustainability? Define sustainability Factors that determine CEZD’s sustainability Priorities 2018/19 Plenary Discussion Decision on Actions– 15 minutes

What do we mean by sustainable? “Capable of being prolonged; to keep up; to withstand” * CEZD sustainability will be determined by the realization of the following factors: strong partnerships, funding stability, organizational rigour, effective communications, positive animal/human health impacts, and functional information system. *CEZD Road to Sustainability March 2016 Other components of sustainability: Based on value proposition Efficiency: automated reports (?); use reports from other organizations; are we as efficient as possible? CAHSS and the Council: how can we take the next step at CEZD integration/collaboration.

Priorities 2018/19 Organizational Development and Sustainability Priorities Shared leadership in community development Re-evaluate definition of ‘core team’ - does it include the WGs, Open invitation to partners to participate or lead Presentations to CCVOs, FPT ADMs, NFAHWC emerging diseases WG Revise Sustainability Plan for implementation beyond April 2018, including a review of CEZD’s purpose, objectives

Discussion Questions Is your time commitment to CEZD vulnerable? What are the weaknesses in our sustainability? Who requires more information (presentation) on CEZD? Who’s engagement do we need? What should we seek funding for? What else should be done to promote sustainability?
