Bayshore Gardens Community Church Believing, Again Gaining Hope Caring Relationships Christ Jesus

[ Pastor / CONGREGATION ] THE CALL TO WORSHIP Based on Romans 11:33-36) [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ] How deep and profound is the wisdom and knowledge possessed by God; HIS DECISIONS CANNOT BE COMPREHENDED BY MERE MORTAL BEINGS.

It is impossible for God’s paths to be traced by human ways. NO ONE CAN KNOW THE MIND OF THE LORD, NOR DOES HE SEEK OUR ADVICE. God does not need anything we have for all we possess already belongs to Him;

EVERYTHING WAS CREATED BY HIM AND ALL THINGS EXIST THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM. To God be the glory forever and ever! TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!

**THE OPENING HYMN #56

(1a) To God be the glory, Great things He has done. So loved He the world that He gave us His son Who yielded His life An atonement for sin, And opened the Life-Gate That all may go in.

(1b) Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, Great things He has done.

(2a) O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer The promise of God; The vilest offender Who truly believes, That moment from Jesus A pardon receives.

(2b) Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, Great things He has done.

(3a) Great things He has taught us, Great things He has done, And great our rejoicing Through Jesus the Son; But purer and higher And greater will be Our wonder, our transport, When Jesus we see.

(3b) Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, Great things He has done.

THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION Psalm 51:1,7 Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; In Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions; Remove my sin, and I will be clean; Wash me and I will be whiter than snow.

THE SONG OF RESPONSE #575

What a fellowship, (1) what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Oh, how sweet to walk (2) in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

What have I to dread, (3) what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE Luke 16:1-13   Jesus told his disciples a story: There was a master whose manager was accused of wasting the master’s possessions. So the master called in the manager and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’ The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I'm not strong enough to dig, and I'm ashamed to beg.

I know what I'll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’ So the manager called in each one of his master's debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ ‘Eight hundred gallons of olive oil,’ he replied. So the manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred.’ Then he asked the second, ‘And how much do you owe?’ ‘A thousand bushels of wheat,’ he replied. Then the manager told him, ‘Take your bill and make it eight hundred.’

The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the ‘people of the light.’ I tell you, use your worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. And whoever is dishonest with very little, will also be dishonest with much.

So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own? No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly possessions.

THE SONG OF PREPARATION ‘INTO MY HEART’   Into my heart, Come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Come in today, Come in to stay, (Repeat)

A DISHONORABLE MANAGER’ THE SERMON ‘HONORABLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM A DISHONORABLE MANAGER’ Luke 16:1-13 Rev. Dr. Daniel Herlein

The FIRST honorable Lesson from the dishonorable manager THINK before you ACT!

The SECOND honorable Lesson From the dishonorable Manager Be HONEST when you have made a mistake and be HONORABLE in resolving the error.

The THIRD honorable Lesson From the dishonorable Manager The more we try to COVER UP our sins the DEEPER we have to dig the hole.

The shocking ‘punch line’ of this parable is found in verse 8a . . . ‘The wealthy man COMMENDED the dishonest manager because he had acted SHREWDLY.’ (φρόνιμος) That’s astounding ! ! ! Why would Jesus say that? Hint: See verse 8b

For the people of this world are more shrewd Verse 8b For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.

The FOURTH honorable Lesson from the dishonorable manager Our Christian faith will be what we say it is with our WORDS, ONLY when our PRIORITIES show it with our ACTIONS.

in the FUTURE by the wise use of our PRESENT possessions. The FIFTH honorable Lesson from the dishonorable Manager We are expected to invest in the FUTURE of Gods Kingdom by the wise use of our PRESENT possessions. (Luke 16:9)

The SIXTH honorable Lesson from the dishonorable manager USING our possessions and LOVING people is the honorable way it ought to be … BUT … LOVING our possessions and USING people only leads to dishonor and misery.

The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS; AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY FOREVER AMEN.
