Presentation transcript:

How to Make a Seam Pocket 1. Cut out two pocket ‘bag’ pieces from your fabric – see template. Make sure it is big enough to fit your hand and there is enough room for seam allowance.

2. Mark where you want your pocket to be.

3. Take one of your pocket pieces and place, right sides together onto your fabric/garment – the straight side of your pocket should be against the seam edge of your fabric. Repeat with the other pocket piece on the other piece of your garment/fabric.

4. Stitch the pockets into place with a straight stitch – use quite a small seam allowance so the pocket can’t be seen.

5. Place the right sides of your pockets and fabric together (lining them up so that they match) – pin into place. Sew the side seam as usual, following around the curve of the pocket in a continuous line.

6. Turn the pocket the right way round and press into place.
