What religion is prominent? Islam- based on the teachings of its founder, the Prophet Muhammad Monotheistic- believe in only one God Mosque- place of worship All Muslims (followers of Islam) perform the 5 pillars

What are the 5 Pillars? 5 Pillars 1. Faith (Shahadah)- No God but Allah & Muhammad (the prophet) is messenger of Allah 2. Prayer (Salaah)- praying 5x’s per day towards Mecca 3. Charity (Zakaah)- giving money (alms) to the poor

5 Pillars cont.- 4. Fasting (Saum)- During month of Ramadan, cannot eat or drink anything between sunrise & sunset Except infants, the elderly, & the sick 5. Pilgrimage (Hajj)- Make pilgrimage to Mecca once during life & pray at the Kabbah
