Genre How do we decide what to watch? How do we discuss a film? Genre is a core media term which we will use frequently.

GLOSSARY Genre - Type of category; the expectations audiences have of a media text. Deconstruction - identification and analysis of technical features of a media text.

Poster deconstruction For each poster: Name the genre of the film How do you know the genre of the film? How does this poster attract audiences?

Do this for EACH of the main genre. Create a PowerPoint that succinctly defines each Main Genre or Each Subgenre (use the information from your filled in genre chart) Find a film from that Genre, and save and include the graphic for the movie poster for that film. Do this for EACH of the main genre.
