Email: ademel@elkhartisd.org Phone: 903-764-2979 Conference: M-12:55-1:40 T/W- 12:05-12:50 TH 8:05-8:45 F- 9-9:45 Week of April 17,2017 4/21- Meal with Mom Breakfast 4/21- Caps for Kids (Pay $1 to wear cap to school) 5/2- $10 for Field Trip and Water Day due 5/3- Field Trip to Curious Museum 5/5- Read All Day( Blanket and Pillow. NO Pajamas) 5/11- Elementary Field Day 5/12- Spring A.R. Party to Reagan Park (50 points/80% average.) 5/17- Orange Day for Fairness 5/19- Second Grade Water Day 5/23- Award Ceremony @10 a.m. 5/25- Early Release @ 1 p.m. 5/26- Early Release @ 1 p.m. 5/26- Last Day of School Language Arts and Reading- We will have normal spelling test, vocabulary test, and weekly assessment. We will be working on consonant +le in spelling. We will focus on making inferences, synonyms, captions, possessive nouns, and contractions. Math-We are starting Unit 14. This unit will teach the students to use several types of measurement. Measurement of time and length. The beginning of the unit will start with telling time. We will work on telling time on analog clocks for about a week. Science-Organisms and Environment /Plants Social Studies- Producers and Consumers Health-Outdoor Safety Students need to bring $10 on or by May 2nd. This will cover the Field Trip and Water Day. We are now in the last grading period of the school year. This is a very busy time of year for the students. Please continue to study spelling and vocabulary. Studying every night really makes a huge difference. So far your children have learned 130 new vocabulary words and over 400 spelling words! It truly is amazing! On May 3rd, we will be traveling to the Curious Museum in Palestine. We will have lunch and play at Reagan park around 11:45- 12:00. Each child will need a sack lunch and two drinks. Please make sure and initial their A.R. reading slip that I send home. The student’s clip will be moved if they do not return their slip on Monday. If for some reason the slips do not go home or the student is absent they will not move their clip. To be able to attend the A.R. party the student must have 50 points and an 80% average. This can be found at the bottom of their reading record I send home. If your child makes it to the A.R. party you will receive a note from me.
