Support Centre for Sexually Abused Children
Opened at 2016 this support centre is the only one in the Lithuania where specialized, complex service for sexually abused children and their family members are provided.
Our services are provided 24/7 There are 10 sleeping places here at the time Child can stay alone or with parents / guardians; Usually, children stay here for three days, if necessary, longer
main goals of the Support Centre: Lessen the negative effects on the child after the abuse; To create and ensure safe environment for children, where they would receive all help they need from different specialists under the same roof; To promote child friendly approach and environment; To promote multidisciplinary and interagency service; To ensure high professional standards.

Who arrange child‘s arrival to the support Centre?
Numbers So far 520 children received complex services at the Support Centre, of whom: 335 were girls 185 were boys
More then 254 family members received crisis intervention counseling
164 forensic interviews and 108 medical examinations.
Specialists training: Local and external training sessions are organized by the Support Centre. More than 1000 specialists were train how to recognize sexual abused child and what to do in these situations.
11 training sessions have taken place since October 2018; In 2018, the Ministry of social security and labor approved a training program „Child sexual abuse: identification and response“: 11 training sessions have taken place since October 2018; One training session lasts for 8 hours; Theoretical and practical skills are developed during the training; More than 100 professionals participated in these trainings.
Interagency collaboration In order to lessen the negative effects on the child after the abuse the Support Centre focus on interdisciplinary collaboration with various institutions: Child rights protection service; Police; Pre – trial investigators; Judges, prosecutors; Health Services; Various organizations that provide services for families and children in crisis.
