Annotate both passages, SOAPSTone one of them: Language (syntax, diction, structure): annotate for parallel structure, interesting patterns in syntax (fragments, run-ons, frequent use of colons, semi-colons, etc.), rhetorical devices (repetition, anaphora, restatement, ethos, pathos, logos), Diction (word choice: connotation vs. denotation) etc. Imagery (figurative Language): metaphor, similes, alliteration, assonance, repetition of images in the passage/novel, allusions, etc. HRLLP : Connect to anything from HRLLP. Think about meaning behind connections. SOAPSTone: Choose one of the passages after you annotate BOTH and create a SOAPSTone for that passage.
