The Giver Chapter 20

Do Now: Quickwrite for 10 minutes RRJ p.81 The Giver tells Jonas, “Life here is so orderly, so predictable—so painless.” (page 103) Jonas says, “We really have to protect people from wrong choices.” (page 98). Do you agree or disagree? Do these two explanations defend or justify the society?

Homework: Finish classwork/Chapter 20 RRJ RCQs for ch 20 (p. 81) Vocabulary for Chapter 21 on RRJ p. 83

Chapter 20 Read and discuss chapter 20 (81) Write down the steps Jonas will take to escape in the right hand column of a T-chart (82) What problems did they predict? How did they try to avoid these problems? (Remember when you were planning your extension activity?)
