Advanced Web Web Quest

To do today. . . . Meet with your client and complete the first part of the client form Refer to the resources tab on my web site for the form You can either print out the form and hand write your responses from your client meeting OR you can save the form to your H: drive and type in the answers You must turn this completed form in with your completed website Put it some place safe…like your folder!

After you finish meeting with your client Begin making a “mock up” or a story board of what you think the web site should look like Draw it by hand OR create something in DreamWeaver and / or Fireworks and / or Photoshop You must meet with your client again to get their approval of your story board

Story board it! Make your story board Draw it and show as much detail as you can OR Create a sample web page in DW, FW or PS Meet with your client to get approval

Things to consider. . . Make a folder and title it according to the site you will be designing All files go in here Make sub folders to hold images, documentation, etc. What is the monitor resolution are you designing for? 800 x 600? 1024 x 768?

Things to consider. . . Making buttons Fw or PS? You decide! In FW, you must save the original button (PNG format) and EXPORT it to appear on the website In PS, you must save the original button (PSD format) and Save as… for it to appear on the website To edit the text always use the original source file and do a export / save as

Things to consider. . . Button Size Determine the longest word to appear on your button Create the button around this word Typical size are not larger then 100 pixels wide and 25 pixels high, font size no larger then 14 points

Things to consider. . . Banner Size What’s the slogan / logo? What monitor resolution are you using as a basis? Create your button to fit the width of the monitor resolution Remember about the padding from the browser Create the button around this word Nothing works the first time…experiment with the sizes to see what works best for your site.
