Now you are going to “package” the picture in bits to send the picture to another team When it gets to them, they need to reassemble it.   Work out a system that allows them to do this.  Write your system/instructions on the package.    Send your “package” with instructions to help them do this This is a little like what happens when a picture is opened on your pc/device. Learning Development Image Package Pixel RGB Analogue Digitising Recognise how images are stored in a computer system Investigate how computers use metadata to display images Investigate how compression can be used to increase efficiency Learning objectives Learning Development If you look REALLY closely at a digital picture, it looks like this……….just like the picture you coloured in for our do it now task Each square is called a PIXEL.  When you create an image using image manipulation software like Fireworks or Photoshop you use a different number of pixels for different tasks - 72 ppi (pixels per inch) for images that will be viewed on the web and 300 ppi for images that will be printed. Each pixel has binary code that tells the device where it belongs in the picture.  Kind of like a grid reference or a cell address.  This *pixel*, could have an address of; Y150, X200  Just like our do it now task each pixel also has code that tells the device what colour it is.  Image Package Pixel RGB Analogue Digitising Pixelated Binary Metadata

Remember this information is all stored using binary. Back to task 1, how did you know how to put your class mates’ image together? A device needs this information too.
