Our next newsletter will go home in January. Enjoy this time with your precious children! Theme: Holiday Traditions Writing: Small Moment Narratives – assessment Reading Skills: Review consonant digraphs and blends, long & short vowel patterns Reading Strategy – find small, known words within larger words Spelling: Review beginning sight words. We will be removing these from the word wall since they should be known words for everyone at this point in the year. Language Skills: Review compound words, contractions, nouns, verbs, & adjectives. Math Skills: Graphing: collecting and sorting data, compiling data into graphs to interpret and compare information. Reminders **Don’t forget to send in your child’s $4 donation for the Christmas party. It is almost time for the 100th Day of School celebration! When we return to school, we will have just over a week until the scheduled day, January 18th. On this day our first graders (and teachers) dress up like they are 100 years old. We love seeing the imagination of our kiddos as they think about what it might be like to be 100! Walkers, canes, and wigs are all permitted, as are crazy cat ladies with “oxygen tanks”! Keep this day in mind as you finish up your holiday. You may need to borrow something from a relative! Important Dates Teacher Tips for Success Dec. 20th – Class Parties – 11:00-12:00 Please send in your donations as soon as you can so we will know what we are missing before party day! Dec. 21st – 60% day – dismissal at 11:30 Please notify your child’s teacher of his/her lunch plans for this day: cafeteria lunch, lunch box, or lunch at home. Jan. 7th – School resumes
