Developed (1st World) high literacy rate commercial farming = cheap food high life expectancy rule of law declining birth rates cats and dogs get medical care people are expensive but machines are cheap Examples: US, Germany, Japan
Undeveloped (3rd/4th World) low literacy rate subsistence agriculture short life span bribes get things done large families cats and dogs are barely surviving people are cheap and machines are expensive Examples: Afghanistan, Sudan, Bolivia
Developing (2nd World) has some aspects of “undeveloped,” but in other aspects making the transition to “developed” Examples: India, Brazil, China
