Metric Units Monday, 22 April 2019

Length Metric measurements are millimetre (mm) centimetre (cm), metre (m) and kilometre (km) 10 mm = 1 cm 100 cm = 1 m 1000 m = 1 km

To change cm into millimetres we multiply by 10 Example Change the following cm into mm. 4 cm 4.3 cm 9.6 cm 23cm 18.7 cm = 40 mm = 43 mm = 96 mm = 230 mm = 187 mm To change cm into millimetres we multiply by 10

To change millimetres into centimetres we divide by 10 Example Change the following mm into cm. 70 mm 86 mm 4 mm 130 mm 263 mm = 7 cm = 8.6 cm = 0.4 cm = 13 cm = 26.3 cm To change millimetres into centimetres we divide by 10

To change metres into centimetres we multiply by 100 Example Change the following m into cm. 5 m 4.6 m 3.14 m 15 m 6.07 m = 500cm = 460cm = 314cm = 1500cm = 607cm To change metres into centimetres we multiply by 100

To change centimetres into metres we divide by 100 Example Change the following cm into m. 700cm 630cm 84cm 1250cm 316cm = 7 m = 6.3 m = 0.84 m = 12.5 m = 3.16 m To change centimetres into metres we divide by 100

To change kilometres into metres we multiply by 1000 Example Change the following km into m. 3 km 2.7 km 0.84 km 5.623 km 618.2 km = 3000 m = 2700 m = 840 m = 5623 m = 618200 m To change kilometres into metres we multiply by 1000

To change metres into kilometres we divide by 1000 Example Change the following m into km. 3000 m 4700 m 5062 m 824 m 18300 m = 3 km = 4.7 km = 5.062 km = 0.824 km = 18.3 km To change metres into kilometres we divide by 1000

Length 1 cm = 2.54 inches 1 mile = 1.6 km Metric measurements and their equivalent as Imperial measurements 1 cm = 2.54 inches 1 mile = 1.6 km

Example Change the following cm into inches 2 cm 5 cm 10 cm

Example Change the following inches into cm, giving your answers correct to 1 decimal place 4 in 9 in 12 in
