Compound Area Compound area is where a shape can be made up of other shapes. The area of a compound shape can be found by calculating the area of the shapes from which they can be formed, and adding these together. Here is a compound shape made of 2 rectangles. 1 2

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 3cm 6cm 7cm 4cm

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 3cm 6cm 7cm 4cm Area = (4cm x 6cm) + (3cm x 7cm) = 24cm² + 21cm² = 45cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 5cm 7cm 9cm 6cm Area = (6cm x 7cm) + (5cm x 9cm) = 42cm² + 45cm² = 87cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 3cm 6cm 8cm 2cm Area = (2cm x 8cm) + (3cm x 6cm) = 16cm² + 18cm² = 34cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 5cm 10cm 5cm 4cm Area = (4cm x 10cm) + (5cm x 5cm) = 40cm² + 25cm² = 65cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 3cm 7cm 8cm 6cm Area = (8cm x 3cm) + (7cm x 6cm) = 24cm² + 42cm² = 66cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 4cm 8cm 12cm 8cm Area = (12cm x 4cm) + (8cm x 8cm) = 48cm² + 64cm² = 112cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 9cm 15cm 7cm 6cm Area = (7cm x 9cm) + (15cm x 6cm) = 63cm² + 90cm² = 153cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 16cm 4cm 5cm 13cm Area = (16cm x 4cm) + (13cm x 5cm) = 64cm² + 65cm² = 129cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 32cm 6cm 20cm 24cm Area = (6cm x 32cm) + (20cm x 24cm) = 192cm² + 480cm² = 672cm²

Calculate the area of this compound shape: Compound Area Calculate the area of this compound shape: 28cm 8cm 15cm 18cm Area = (28cm x 8cm) + (18cm x 15cm) = 224cm² + 270cm² = 494cm²
