Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School What are apprenticeships? Apprenticeships combine work and study – this means you get on the job training by skilled employers plus classroom learning You have to be over 16 to start an apprenticeship This means you usually go to a college or training centre for 1 or 2 days per work. The rest of the time is work based. By the end of the apprenticeship you should have gained essential skills to equip you in being successful in following your chosen career route OR move to the next level apprenticeship At the end of your apprenticeship you will gain a nationally recognised qualification Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School

Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School There are 4 levels of apprenticeships:- Intermediate - equivalent to five good GCSE passes (Level 2) Advanced  - equivalent to two A-level passes (Level 3) Higher  - equivalent to the first stages of higher education, such as a foundation degree and above (Level 4,5,6,7) Degree  - comparable to a Bachelors or Masters degree (Level 6,7 Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School

Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School How long does it take to do complete an apprenticeships? This depends on the level, however they usually last between 1 and 5 years. Intermediate apprenticeships typically last between one year and 18 months Advanced apprenticeships are usually studied over two years Higher and degree apprenticeships take three to five years to complete. Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School Entry requirements Intermediate apprenticeship - need to be over 16 years old and no longer in full-time education. Advanced apprenticeship - you're likely to be asked for prior work experience and at least three 9-4 grade GCSEs or equivalent Higher apprenticeships are the equivalent of a foundation degree, HNC or first year of a Bachelors, you'll usually need at least five 9-4 grade GCSEs, as well as some Level 3 qualifications in relevant subjects, to apply. Degree apprenticeships  You are likely to need three A-levels in a specified grade range or a higher apprenticeship qualification, on top of at least five 9-4 GCSE grades. Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School How much will I earn? You are entitled to the minimum wage (£4.20 per hour) Pay is then dependent on the company you are working for and the level of the apprenticeship Average weekly wage is between £150 and £200 Great Teaching and Learning @ Parkside School

There are 3 steps to applying for an apprenticeship:- 1.Search for an apprenticeship https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship 2.Sign in or create an account. 3.Complete and submit your application.
